Clippers at Warriors: Curry tests a Los Angeles team still finding its shape
Golden State hosts the Clippers after erasing a 25-point deficit against the Lakers. The visitors have lost four of five, and their rebuilt roster is still missing key pieces.

The Clippers return to San Francisco six months after the Warriors knocked them out of the play-in tournament, 126-121. Much has changed since April. Kawhi Leonard is now with Toronto, and Los Angeles is trying to build its offense around Darius Garland while Brandon Ingram remains sidelined. Golden State has just produced two wildly different stretches against the Lakers: it fell 25 points behind before winning 112-95. Sunday's meeting counts toward the regular-season standings. The games both teams played on Friday were NBA Cup group games, but this one is not.
The win over the Lakers moved the Warriors to 3-3. Stephen Curry scored 31 points and made eight 3-pointers, while Brandin Podziemski supplied 21 points, five rebounds and six assists. Golden State hit 22 of 46 from deep, and its bench outscored the Lakers' reserves 50-7. That comeback showed the force of its shooting and ball movement without settling every concern: a team that can recover from a 25-point hole still has to explain how it fell into one. Nor should Friday's 47.8% 3-point shooting be treated as a forecast for the next game.
The Clippers are 1-4 after a 127-101 loss in Minnesota. Garland led them with 24 points but committed five turnovers. Los Angeles gave the ball away 17 times, while the Timberwolves shot 51-for-95 from the field. Kris Dunn had seven assists; Isaiah Jackson collected seven rebounds and four blocks. Those individual contributions did not prevent a heavy defeat. The Clippers also face Toronto at home on Monday, so the trip to Chase Center starts a demanding back-to-back.
Can Garland break the first line of defense?
The Clippers' overhaul is about more than Leonard's departure. They added Ingram, Rui Hachimura and Max Strus, among others, but Ingram had yet to make his debut while recovering from right heel surgery and a partial Achilles injury. Strus also missed the start of the season with a foot injury. Their absences help explain the weight on Garland as the primary creator. They do not, however, constitute a game-specific designation: as of the NBA's 8:30 a.m. ET injury report on Saturday, neither team had submitted its report for this matchup.
Golden State could test that creation by making Garland start possessions farther from the basket. Dunn and the Clippers' wings would then have to provide another passing outlet without giving away possessions. If Garland gets past the first defender, Draymond Green and the help defense face a different choice: stop the drive while keeping contact with Hachimura and other shooters. These are the tactical questions raised by the matchup, not reported lineups or instructions from either coach.
At the other end, Los Angeles must track Curry through screens without surrendering easy looks to Podziemski when a second defender steps toward the ball. Golden State recorded 31 assists in its comeback against the Lakers. Jackson and Brook Lopez give the Clippers size around the rim, but Curry's range can pull a defense away from that protection. The April play-in result gives this matchup a competitive backdrop, though the roster turnover makes it a poor script for Sunday's game.
The new injury report is still pending
Earlier Golden State reports listed Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody out as they recovered from knee surgeries; Kristaps Porziņģis was also absent. Their status for Clippers-Warriors needs the new report, not an older list. Podziemski missed the season opener with back soreness, then played and scored 21 on Friday. That confirms his return to the floor against the Lakers, not his medical designation for Sunday.
For the Clippers, Ingram and Strus had yet to debut after their respective heel and foot injuries. Bradley Beal had also missed time because of right knee injury management. In the NBA's Saturday 8:30 a.m. ET update, both teams were still marked “not yet submitted” for this game. No player is therefore labelled out, questionable or cleared for Sunday on the basis of an earlier report.
