Warriors at Nuggets: Golden State seeks its first win against a Jokić–Murray pairing fresh off a comeback
The Warriors head to Ball Arena after three defeats, with Stephen Curry and several other regulars awaiting an updated availability report. Denver overcame a 22-point deficit against New Orleans, but it, too, has injury questions to resolve before Monday.

Golden State visits Denver on Monday facing an unusually pressing early-season problem: it has lost its first three games. The Nuggets have not started flawlessly either, but they have just erased a 22-point deficit and beaten New Orleans 141–135 in overtime. At Ball Arena, the question is whether the Warriors can restore their usual scorers and playmakers while keeping the production their reserve players supplied on Saturday.
- Competition: NBA, 2026–27 regular season.
- Matchup: Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets.
- Venue: Ball Arena, Denver, Colorado.
- Date and time: Monday, October 26, 8 p.m. in Denver (MDT); 10 p.m. U.S. Eastern time (EDT).
Two starts, two different concerns
The Warriors have lost 127–105 to the Lakers, 111–108 to Memphis and 131–122 in Phoenix. That third defeat came on the second night of a back-to-back with four important players absent: Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Draymond Green and Al Horford. Curry's right-knee issue deprived a team that relies on his shooting threat to create space of a central weapon. His absence on Saturday does not establish that he will miss Monday's game; the injury report for Denver must settle his status.
The Phoenix defeat nevertheless revealed another scoring route for coach Steve Kerr. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored 26 points and made six three-pointers, while De’Anthony Melton added 25. They kept Golden State competitive as Devin Booker took charge for the Suns with 43 points. Their performances showed the Warriors could generate perimeter points without Curry, although they conceded 131 and left without a win again. Kerr must now decide how the shots and creation are shared if his regulars return, or how to sustain the offense if they remain unavailable.
Denver is 1–1. On Saturday it needed both a comeback and overtime to beat the Pelicans. Jamal Murray scored 42 points and hit eight three-pointers; Nikola Jokić had 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. Rookie Trevon Brazile added 17 points and nine rebounds, contributing to the late rally before Denver's stars finished the job in overtime. The win showed the Nuggets can respond to trouble. Falling 22 behind in the same game also gives Kerr a clue about where Golden State might apply pressure.
Finding room around Jokić
Jokić forces opponents to choose how to defend a center who can score inside, run the offense from the post and locate an open teammate. Early help may leave room for Murray, coming off a game with eight threes, and Denver's other shooters. Single coverage risks giving Jokić long possessions and comfortable attempts. That decision becomes harder if Green or Horford, both members of Golden State's interior rotation, cannot play; Saturday's lineup cannot determine their availability for Monday.
At the other end, Curry's movement would change how Denver navigates screens and protects Jokić. Any return remains unconfirmed. If he sits, Lendeborg's recent shooting and Melton's scoring give Golden State another option, but one hot night offers no guarantee of a repeat. Denver's task is to contest outside shots without opening a path to the basket.
Both teams are off on Sunday, allowing time for a more current medical assessment before travel and rotation decisions. Until the NBA issues the report for this particular matchup, absences in earlier games provide context rather than a firm forecast.
