Chiefs at Seahawks: Kenneth Walker returns to Seattle against a stingy run defense
Undefeated Kansas City visits Lumen Field. After two straight defeats, Seattle needs better protection for Sam Darnold and fewer giveaways against Patrick Mahomes.

Kenneth Walker III returns to Seattle in a different uniform, with 665 rushing yards leading the NFL entering Week 7. The Chiefs visit the Seahawks at 5-0; the hosts are 3-3 after consecutive losses. Kansas City's productive ground game meets a Seattle defense allowing just 3.5 yards per carry, according to the Seahawks' pregame analysis.
- Competition: NFL, 2026 regular season, Week 7.
- Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks.
- Venue: Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington.
- Kickoff: Sunday, October 25, 5:20 p.m. PDT in Seattle / 8:20 p.m. EDT on the U.S. East Coast (Monday, October 26, 00:20 UTC).
Walker's return creates a test on the ground
The former Seahawk averages 6.3 yards per carry and has six rushing touchdowns. He returns to his old home as part of an offense generating 414 yards and 28 points per game. Seattle has given up only two runs of at least 20 yards through six games, its own preview notes. If that discipline holds, the defense can make Kansas City sustain longer drives; if Walker gets through the first level, it will have to react without focusing solely on Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes has thrown for 1,309 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Rashee Rice has been ruled out with hamstring and knee issues, removing a receiving option. Travis Kelce practiced on a limited basis with an ankle problem but carried no final game designation on Friday's report. That does not confirm he will play. Kansas City's offensive line also loses Jaylon Moore, ruled out with a concussion.
Seattle has an imbalance of its own. Jaxon Smith-Njigba leads the league with 49 catches, 717 yards and seven receiving touchdowns, according to the club's pregame figures. Yet Sam Darnold has thrown seven interceptions and was sacked five times in each of his last two games. Smith-Njigba will challenge the coverage coordinated by Steve Spagnuolo, but Darnold needs time to find him and Seattle must take better care of the ball. The NFL game page lists the Chiefs at plus-five in turnover differential and the Seahawks at minus-one.
Anthony Bradford's possible return could strengthen Seattle's protection and running game. The guard came off injured reserve and practiced fully Friday, though his game participation still needs confirmation. Zach Charbonnet, however, will not play. Coach Mike Macdonald said the running back followed his recovery plan during the week without a setback, but his 2026 debut will wait. Seattle cannot count on an immediate boost from him on the ground.
